Coronavirus: Chanel announces measures in response to COVID-19

In response to the current COVID-19 crisis that has affected the world, Chanel today has announced its measures. Bruno Pavlovsky has announced that Chanel would not be using chômage partiel for its employees. Instead, the French powerhouse will pay 100% of salaries to its employees for an 8-week period (16/03/2020-08/05/2020). The objective of this decision is to allow the French state to help those businesses that are more vulnerable.

Support of 1.2 million euro for hospitals.

In addition, Chanel supports with the payment of financial aid to hospital staff in the amount of 1.2 million euros. The aid will go to the emergency fund set up by la Fondation de l’Assistance Publique – Hôpitaux de Paris, de la Fondation Georges Pompidou et du SAMU.

Masks production.

Finally, Chanel confirmed the involvement of its teams in response to COVID-19. This includes 150 of dressmakers in Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear and Metiers d’Art workshops to make protective masks as well as blouses. Chanel has already made available more than 50,000 masks in its possession to “several hospitals, firefighters, police and gendarmerie.”
