Michel Parmigiani is passionate about Japanese culture, so it was only a matter of time before he designed a timepiece dedicated to hanami – the Japanese custom of admiring the beauty of flowers. The new Toric Fleur, announced on Watches & Wonders, features a rose gold case and a delicate lace design of marguerites on its dial. The timepiece is made entirely by the Parmigiani Fleurier watchmaking centre. A long-time student of nature and the golden ratio, Parmigiani was inspired by the subtle grace of this flower as seen in the meadows of the Swiss Jura.
The 37 mm rose gold case is fitted with the subtly knurled bezel typical of the Toric collection. Arabic figures indexes are applied on the white mother of pearl dial. While a gold lace design evokes a carpet of marguerites the Swiss valleys in spring. Driven by the automatic in-house calibre PF310, the leaf-shaped hands with luminescent material indicate the hours and minutes. The small seconds hand appears at six o’clock.
Additionally, the case back offers the view onto the Côtes de Genève bridges that are shaped like a hand fan. At the same time, the gold rotor is delicately engraved with a barley grain motif.
As a child, Michel Parmigiani enjoyed trying to understand nature and the human works imitating its perfection. The love to nature is embodied in his own Japanese-style garden, as well as the new Toric Fleur.
